The Institute for Ministry is the administrative branch of Sacred Heart Major Seminary that facilitates admissions, offers advising and provides formation opportunities and other student services for commuter students matriculating into the seminary's degree and diploma programs and those who wish to take courses for enrichment.

Our Role:

Guide you through admissions.
Connect you to advising and provide formation opportunities.
Help you to discern which of SHMS's degree or diploma programs are right for you.
Serve students preparing for various lay ministries and leadership roles, including the permanent diaconate.
Provide continuing education programs (Topics) to assist students seeking archdiocesan certification in ministry.
